Microsoft-Iowa Class Action Settlement

December 12th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Misinformation

If you lived in Iowa and purchased a MS product, or PC with MS products pre-installed, then you might be eligible for the class action.  You can fill out a claim online, but hurry up as the deadline is Friday, December 14th.  The settlement can get you $16 for each Windows or MS-DOS, $10 for Word, $25 for Excel, and $29 for Office.

3600 miles later.

December 12th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Me

Since accepting the position at Innovation First I have driven over 3600 miles. Starting the weekend of Nov 3rd for a house hunting trip and ending Monday the 10th with an exhausting trip with a U-Haul in the rain with bad headlights. We’re officially residents of Greenville Texas and look forward to a lengthy stay. If anyone knows where the unpacking gnomes and/or fairies are hanging out these days, please herd them toward my place.

Thanks to everyone who helped me load and unload the truck!

Software Design Documentation

Comanche Hill » The Fallacy of Software Design Documentation

Mark has an excellent post about our recent experiences with documentation and some people who place way too much trust in software design and not enough in testing.

Software design is like herding cats. You’re a lot better off if you just dive in and do what needs to be done now. Planning an attack on a moving and unpredictable target just wastes your time and pisses off the cat.
