GMail gets IMAP

October 23rd, 2007 Posted in Browser

GMail has finally added IMAP support.  It’s apparently not available on all accounts, but both of my accounts (gmail and for domains) have it.

I don’t know for sure if I’ll use it since I’m so accustomed to the GMail interface, but it might be nice for offline reading.  Now if they’d just come up with a way to write to the calendar from apps like Evolution I’ll be happy.

Hrm, maybe I should get a Mac.

Or, get busy and write a connector with the calendar api.

I am too extremely acostumed to the gmail interface, to the point that I use Mailplane (http://mailplaneapp.com/) instead of Mail on my macs.

I will setup sylpheed at work and test if itouch can handle conversations as good as the gmail interface, which I cannot live without by now :-)
